What are the advantages and disadvantages?

Everyone who has a console knows the advantages and disadvantages of it. For example, Xbox has the red ring of Death which no one likes and the PS3 is seen more as a way to watch Netflix or BBC iPlayer on TV. However anyone who has a console still says there’s is better than the other. So here is a comparison with the consoles of the PlayStation 3, and the Xbox 360.

PS3

Now, the PlayStation 3; this console had numerous advantages. One of these is the online connection between each of the consoles when playing on the games. For example, when playing on Black Ops 2 if you’re on a good enough server, you get to talk and interact with other characters, play ‘party games’ and do the occasional pranking to wind up the other players. Also with the task of collecting trophies this makes it more tempting to get the most over all of your other online contacts with a PS3. Unlike the Xbox, it can play Blu-ray films; this makes the quality of playing the films much higher with better sound quality. Furthermore the internet connection is free too so the viewer doesn’t have to pay to pay online.

But this does come with problems. The PlayStation 3 is more expensive than the other consoles like Xbox which is around the price of £139.99 whereas the PlayStation 3 is £229.99.This is quite a large difference in price. Secondly, the online network is smaller even though you don’t have to pay for it. Even though there are only a couple of issues, they can be considered quite large.

Xbox

Just like the PlayStation 3 there are advantages to the Xbox console. Some advantages are what the PlayStation lacks. One advantage is that the Xbox is cheaper than the PS3 buy quite a large amounts. So if you barely afford a PS3 because of the high prices then Xbox is probably the best console. Even though the price is cheaper, the quality of the gaming experience is just as good, if not better. The online community of the Xbox is much larger than the PS3 which is a strong factor for the console as everyone want to be able to play with other people and friends rather than a handful. The gaming and price aspect are what makes the consoles such a strong competitor against PlayStation because gaming with Xbox is the largest factor they try to contribute rather than trying to be more connective with social networking, being a Blu-ray player and so on. Gaming is the first priority.

But there are a lot more disadvantages. The online connectivity through the Xbox does cost you monthly to be a part of it. The controls are powered by batteries rather than by wire so you have to change batteries each time they run out or use rechargeable batteries. However you can get a cable version if you purchase it separately.  Lastly, to use Wi-Fi you have to purchase a Wi-Fi adaptor to do so. Lastly, the biggest problem is the life span of the console; this can alter between each console as they can get the red ring of death. This ring occurs to tell the viewer that their console is on the path to dying due to overheating where dust, pet hair or anything else have covered the venting system so cool air cannot get in and hot air can’t come out.  All these disadvantage consist of small and big problems which can make it hard to compare to the PlayStation on which is best.
